Grant Opportunities
Here at Backyard BIsque, we recognize that the grant application process can sometimes feel overwhelming. With some grants requiring multiple references, long written responses, and sometimes even large application fees, this can make the grant feel unobtainable. Being artists ourselves, we know that your time would be better spent creating so we’ve adapted this process to be more artist-friendly. Pushing the applicants to create work is our focus, however, “the paperwork” is unavoidable. With your work of art, each applicant will also be asked to submit an artist statement explaining the piece, what inspired it, and how it follows the given prompt. They will also be asked to let us know who they are and what their goals are as an artist. In tandem with our guest judge, we will deliberate and select a recipient. This recipient will be selected not solely on the work they submit but also what they convey in the statement and bio. In this way, we get a solid understanding of who you are and helps Backyard Bisque provide access and opportunities for artists to create.

Reseda Pottery Artist Grant
With a specific succulent in mind, create a planter that goes beyond a basic pot. Think about shapes, textures, and forms that you observe in nature and create something that feels intentional. The planter should be functional, but also feel like a small sculpture.
Let us know why you chose this succulent and how it influenced your work!
